For warm-up before strength we do some plyometrics/spenst (as does almost every ski team). When I wanted a video of the skate jumps, my team was very cute and all jumped together with the same timing.

In case you want to know who's jumping:

Boy's Line: Brent Knight, Bart dengel, Jeff Ellis, Dylan Watts, Peter Kling, Mikey Matteson, Kalysta Schmidt (uh, not a boy).

Girl's Line: Kikkan Randall, Kate Arduser, Cassi Rice, Sarah Radonich, Katie Ronsse, Becca Rorabaugh, Ky Eiben, Holly Brooks, Erika Klaar, Kate Fitzgerald.

Holy cow. My quads are screaming just watching that. What's the payoff - besides the great video? Is it meant primarily to build strength for skating? Timing?

the payoff is getting to watch people who haven't done skate jumps before try to learn! Just kidding, but that part is entertaining.

The benefit is improving your lateral jumps since skiing's really a series of jumps cut just short of getting air. Actually jumping helps improve the speed and force of the kick. It also helps with synchronizing your arm swing to add momentum to the movement.
