Drug Testing

It was pretty nice to have a pretty drug-free Olympics. And not for a lack of testing. I noticed that Phelps was tested seven times in twelve days. I'm going to take this as a sign that my fellow athletes are choosing not to dope. Good.

I am not sure you can say it was a drug free Olympics. What you can say is very few athletes got caught. But that certainly does not mean there was no doping of athletes before or during the events.

The tired excuse of so many athletes that they are tested so many time so they must be clean really does not wash with the facts. Doping control on catch a small percetnage of the cheaters.

This is a quote from Ricco an Italian rider in the Tour de France.

"During the Tour they took a lot of samples (from me), they made 10 tests in about 13 stages, two were positive and in fact in theory all the tests should have been positive therefore the method needs to be checked," he said.

Two postives in ten test is only a 20% sucess rate for the doping police.

You have every right to be naive if you want to be.

My point is that sport is a long way from clean.

ENJOY
